When the Dáil sits
The Government wants the Bill through both Houses by Christmas (where it is now). Every stage in the Dáil needs a day the Dáil sits, and its provisional calendar has 21 of them left this year. A day it does not sit, for a strike or anything else, is one fewer.
Next sitting: Tuesday 3 November · The Oireachtas says: “Dáil Éireann resumes on Tuesday, 3 November 2026”
Due to sit and did not: Wed 14 Oct. No Official Report of the Dáil for that day.
On the schedule
From the Oireachtas schedule, read every hour. The Dáil’s business is set a week or so ahead, and times move at short notice. Last read 27 October, 12:05am.
No sitting.
The Joint Committee on Justice, Home Affairs and Migration is where the General Scheme goes for pre-legislative scrutiny; its Dáil members, as the Select Committee, take a Bill’s Committee Stage. Its members are on Write to your TDs.
The year, day by day
The Dáil’s provisional calendar of 10 July, and since then the days it actually sat, by its Official Report.
Point at a day, or tap it, for what the Dáil took that day or has on.
A day counts as sat when the Dáil has an Official Report of its debates for it, and its panel links to it. Written answers published in a recess do not count. A day due is called not sat once its record is three days late.
